Center has therapists who specialize in occupational, physical and speech therapy to treat children with disabilities. Occupational therapy sessions include activities such as feeding, dressing and operating simple equipment. Therapists help children develop age-appropriate hand-eye coordination skills necessary for normal childhood experiences. Physical therapists assess a child’s strength, flexibility and balance and evaluate their ability to coordinate muscles used to roll, sit, crawl, walk, run and climb. Speech-language pathologists provide diagnostic evaluations and treatment programs for communication problems. Evaluations may include articulation, voice, fluency, receptive and expressive language, auditory perception and oral motor ability. In addition, center has a wheelchair clinic to measure, fit, modify and adapt seating and mobility systems, including walkers, gait trainers and bath equipment for any and all children. Evaluations are performed by a physical or occupational therapist. Referrals are accepted from pediatricians and other therapists, as well as school districts and community social workers.
